A Simple Manometer

These calculations run in your web browser, using embedded Javascripts; which means that you must set your browser to allow Javascripts .

This calculator computes the absolute pressure inside a tank, or vessel, as measured by a simple manometer.

  • Buttons select liquid in the manometer, NOT the fluid in the tank.
  • Density changes as liquid is selected, but you may also type in any reasonable value.
  • Calculations are based on the density shown at the instant 'Calculate' button is clicked.
  • Liquid column height is in millimeters.
  • Note that this manometer example measures the absolute (not gage) pressure in the tank which is filled with gas at a uniform pressure.
  • Water Light Oil Mercury Alcohol Glycerine Petroleum
